Journalist Marcello Rubini (Mastroianni) goes from one scoop to the next scandal, sleeps in a brothel, visits an intellectual, all in the middle of Rome. He manages to maintain his cynical distance, but he discovers too late that he is alienated from himself and from 'real life'...

Federico Fellini made the film La dolce vita in 1960, with Marcello Mastroianni as the cynical sensation journalist Marcello. Marcello unexpectedly develops a passion for the blonde 'star' Sylvia, who has just arrived in Rome. As a result of the star, Marcello encounters the parties of the Roman jet set and discovers that beneath the surface of 'the sweet life' lies confusion and chaos.

La dolce vita is a beautiful black and white portrait of the Italian capital in the 1960s.
