City of Women follows the journey of a middle man named Snàporaz, played by Marcello Mastroianni. The story begins when Snàporaz falls asleep on the train and finds himself in a surreal, dreamlike landscape. When he wakes up, he discovers that all the women have left the train and he was left alone in a compartment.

This surreal film about male and female sexuality tells the story of an Italian train passenger who goes after a beautiful woman. Snàporaz follows her through a forest and ends up in a hotel occupied by women who come together for a feminist conference. He soon finds that he is not welcome and must avoid the hostile women.
